Frequently asked

No — and this is the key point. You operate as a referrer, not an adviser. Omva holds the Financial Advice Provider (FAP) and Financial Service Provider (FSP) licences. You drive traffic to your branded site, customers choose and buy, and Omva's licensed entity handles the regulated side. It's the same legal structure used by every major insurance comparison business globally — you just don't need the licence yourself.
A specialty is the insurance category your branded site focuses on — car, home, health, life, travel, pet, and more. You pick one (or several) when you set up. You can switch specialties on a schedule based on your plan: Starter every 14 days, Growth every 7, Elite every 3, Enterprise anytime. Most operators start with vehicle or travel insurance because demand is high and the quote form is short.
Your site compares quotes from major licensed NZ insurers across your chosen specialty. The insurer lineup expands over time as more carriers are integrated. You don't negotiate with insurers yourself — that's all handled on Omva's side. Your job is driving traffic; Omva connects customers to real, live quotes.
Commissions are tracked in real time in your dashboard. You request a payout from your account — minimum $5.00. Payouts are processed and reviewed on Omva's end. Payouts currently require a New Zealand bank account. Commission is earned when a policy is purchased through your site, and again automatically each year a customer renews — no extra action required on your part.
All customer accounts and policies live securely in Omva's licensed platform — not on your site. If you cancel or your site goes offline, customers are redirected seamlessly and their policies remain intact. Your earned commissions up to that point are still paid out. The customer data and policy history are protected regardless of what happens to your operator account.
Yes. Paid ads are one of the fastest ways to scale. Omva provides ad copy, creative templates, and targeting guides to help you get started. You do need to follow FMA (Financial Markets Authority) marketing rules — Omva summarises these in plain English in your dashboard so you're not navigating legal documents yourself. Most operators combine free channels (social, word of mouth) with paid ads as their volume grows.
No — that's Omva's job. Claims, customer support, policy queries, and renewals are all handled under the Omva platform. Your site presents as your brand, but the backend operations are managed by Omva's team. You focus on driving traffic. Everything after the customer buys is taken care of.
Big difference. A standard affiliate program gives you a link that sends customers to someone else's website — they see that brand, not yours, and you get a one-time cut. Omva gives you your own fully branded comparison site. Customers buy on your site, under your name. You own the customer relationship, earn recurring annual commission on renewals, and build brand equity instead of sending people to a middleman forever.
Team seats let you invite collaborators to help manage your operator account. Starter includes 1 seat (just you), Growth includes 3, Elite includes 10, Enterprise is unlimited. You can assign editor or admin roles. Useful for agencies, couples running a site together, or operators who want a VA to help with content.
You get a unique referral link in your dashboard. If another person signs up using your link and becomes an active operator, you earn 5% of their commission earnings — automatically, every month, for as long as they stay active. It's a separate passive income stream on top of your own insurance commissions, and it compounds the same way.
Anytime, from your dashboard. Upgrades unlock instantly — you get the higher commission rate from your very next sale. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. There's no lock-in, no penalty, and no minimum term beyond the monthly billing cycle.
Anyone worldwide can create an account and launch a site. There's no geographic restriction on operators. The current focus: insurance products are NZ-based, so your customers will be in New Zealand while Omva expands to Australia and beyond. Payouts currently require a NZ bank account. Operators need to be 18 or older to hold an account — if you're under 18, a parent or guardian can set it up and transfer it to you when you turn 18.
